Пропыхтела кучу времени над сочинением personal statement. Написала примерно половину требуемого объема в 700 слов, потом подумала и поняла, что вторую половину надо будет писать совсем по-другому. Даже отряхнула от пыли и с трудом извлекла из головы правила написания эссе, которые год издевались надо мной в американской школе.
Опытным путем выяснила, что мне проще писать такие вещи кусками, иначе я бесконечно стираю и переписываю первый абзац, усердно при этом прокрастинируя на что угодно другое. Поэтому я пишу с нового абзаца все, что приходит в голову – разрозненные предложения, словосочетания, советы по написанию эссе и отдельные мысли. Практика показывает, что многое из этого впоследствии встраивается в готовый текст, а пишется такое творение гораздо проще, хотя все равно небыстро.
Вообще очень интересная тема – американские стандарты написания различных текстов. Для эссе, например, сушествуют очень четкие и конкретные правила. Когда им неукоснительно следуешь, на выходе получается очень структурированный и легкий для восприятия текст. Красота и витиеватость в нем, как правило, далеко не главное, ими легко можно пожертвовать в угоду логичности и читабельности.
А вот для personal statement таких четких правил не существует, есть только рекомендации, что существенно усложняет мне жизнь. Утешаю себя тем, что развиваю свое творческое начало.
Наградой за писательские муки мне была вечерняя встреча с подружкой. Мы учились на одном факультете и начали общаться на почве общей любви к Битлз. Дружим до сих пор, хотя Битлз возникают в наших разговорах очень редко.
В этот раз мы обсуждали Иран, откуда Саша недавно вернулась (она любит путешествовать по довольно необычным местам). Я узнала много нового, но желания туда поехать у меня не возникло :)
